The infrastructure sector sits at a collision point of old and new disruptions. Inefficient capital deployment, evolving social and climate priorities and ever-increasing losses from natural hazards have highlighted the need for building resilience in infrastructure.
A new systemic approach
Tackling the complex challenges and opportunities related to infrastructure resilience requires a deep understanding of its technical and economic trade-offs married with a multidimensional (local, regional, national, global) and inclusive approach that considers several stakeholders.
An expert approach
Although the benefits are well understood, the roadmap to resilience and its business case is yet to be defined. Our technical and financial experts offer unparallel resources, knowledge and guidance to get the best out of the asset over its life cycle and explore the economic opportunities of infrastructure resilience.
An unconventional approach
Attuned to our client goals we are inspired by problems where conventional approaches and off the shelf solutions do not work. Our approach seeks to propose value-for-money interventions that will help the asset absorb the impacts of adverse shocks, enhance recovery efforts, and prepare against future risks.
We build on multi-disciplinary excellence to craft resilience infrastructure solutions for our clients.
Climate And Natural Disaster Risk
Probable Maximum Loss of an industrial plant in case of earthquake
Grid Was hired by the Mytilineos Group to assess the earthquake risk and associated loss of the Aluminium of Greece and the Protergia plant. Our analysis identified hidden seismic vulnerabilities and helped our client ringfence critical industrial processes and manage emergency funds.
Grid was hired by the WSP to assist in the development of a harmonized framework for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) that will guide the post-disaster and post-engineering investigations performed by the DOTs. The framework, which will soon become publicly available, will bolster ongoing disaster preparedness initiatives, will facilitate the modernization of existing emergency response plans, and promote knowledge transfer among the various DOTs.
