Aegean Motorway: Probable maximum loss assessment

Estimation of the total cost of repair and replacement of the various structures and facilities of the Aegean Motorway in the event of the worst possible earthquake scenario. This involved mapping of earthquake sources in proximity to the highway and detailed estimation of hazard exposure along the highway, vulnerability assessment of highway components based on detailed numerical simulations of representative structural typologies, a comprehensive deterministic methodology correlating hazard exposure to seismic performance and total loss estimate due to earthquake damage assuming a single maximum loss event.
