During the construction of the waste-treatment facility in Lesvos island in Greece, an uphill slide occurred. Construction works were paused until the excavation front was fully stabilized. In the aftermath of the failure, we have been hired by the Construction Company to re-evaluate the ground-conditions and reassess the global stability of the project ; to design a temporary retaining structure to allow continuation of construction without compromising workers safety; to design permanent stabilization measures and revisit the foundation design of waste-treatment facilities.
