Al Gurm Resort is a residential and tourist development nestled among the mangrove forests of Abu Dhabi. The Resort comprises 69 private luxury homes standing discreetly on the waters of the Arabian Gulf. The scenery villas are founded on cast-in-situ diameter piles penetrating layers of very loose sand overlying a sloping ground bedrock of average inclination of 10o. We were hired to estimate the liquefaction potential at Al Gurm Site and design the foundation piles to undertake the kinematic loading induced by lateral spreading.
