The Mesochora Dam is a 150-m tall concrete-face rock-fill dam on the Acheloos River near Messochora in Trikala, Greece. Although the construction of the Dam was completed in January 2001, the reservoir has yet to be filled due to a variety of legal disputes, one of which is the long-term stability of the hillside village of Messochora.
In this project we acted as a consultants of the dam owner and operator (Public Power Corporation) to assess the stability of the natural slope under rapid drawdown conditions, estimate the earthquake-triggered landslide potential of Messochora Village and conclude on the adequacy of proposed remediation actions.
